Rodeo Rule Highlights
Welcome to the 2023 State Fair of Texas (SFT) Rodeo Events. Included below are some Rodeo Contestant Rules & Information to help make your experience at the State Fair of Texas smooth.
All contestants and personnel must abide by State Fair of Texas ground rules.
All contestants must fill out an indemnity (liability) release.
All horses must enter fairgrounds through Gate 16, located on 4900 Boxwood Street, Dallas, Texas 75223.
All horses coming in must have current Coggins (EIA Negative Equine Infectious Anemia), and Out-of-State horses must have Health Papers completed in the last 30 days. These documents will be checked coming into the Fair by the Texas Animal Health Commission inspector on-site.
Animal abuse will not be tolerated. All animals will always be treated humanely, and with dignity, respect, and compassion. Noncompliance with this rule will result in immediate ejection from the State Fair premises.
Use of electric cattle prods will be prohibited.
Any rodeo contestant or their representatives not cooperating with State Fair officials in all matters, while on State Fair property, will be asked to leave the fairgrounds immediately.
All SFT Rodeo contestants and/or contract personnel will park in the Rodeo Lot. Contestants have the option to park in the Rodeo Lot to saddle/tack up and lead their horse into the horse stall barn. Otherwise, contestants may pull up to the horse barn, offload their tack and horse into a stall, and then park in the Rodeo Lot for the duration of the event. Overnight parking/camping is prohibited in the Rodeo Lot.
Contestants will be provided with admission and parking credentials for themselves and 1 guest. Additional guests may purchase tickets at www.bigtex.com/tickets for general admission into the fair. Admission to the rodeo performances in the stands is included with Fair admission. RV spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

· $100.00 no electricity for weekend, water station available
· RV spots unavailable 10/6-10/8
Contestants will receive 2 wristbands granting access to the stall barn upon turning in the signed indemnity and W9 forms at the check-in table. Additional, wristbands are not available.

CONTESTANT CHECK-IN TIMES
Thursday - October 19 = 10AM to 4:00PM
Friday - October 20 = 8AM to 4:00PM
ARRIVAL AND STALLING INFORMATION
All Rodeo Traffic MUST enter through GATE 16. Any attempt to enter through any other gate will be redirected.
Please be aware that due to the State Fair of Texas, traffic into and out of the Fair Grounds and greater Dallas area may be very heavy. Please plan accordingly to accommodate check -in times. There will be no re/runs or re-rides if a contestant is not in place at the time of competition.
All Animals must have health papers, Coggins, those coming from out of state must also have health certificate with “Texas State Fair” listed as the destination and must be current within 30 days of the last performance.
Contestants must check-in upon arrival at the staging area with gate 16. Upon arrival each contestant will receive a back number, finals jacket, stalling assignments, and entry credentials.
To help with logistics of the UPRA Finals Rodeo Event, the State Fair requests all Officials, Personnel, Stock Contractors, and Contestants be on the ground no later than 4:00PM daily and by 12 Noon on Saturday. Please help us to accommodate our hosts by being punctual as possible.

Dry Camp Generator use in $100 for Tuesday - Sunday
Electrical Hook-Up is $150 for Tuesday - Sunday
Stalls will be assigned at Check-In. Any stalling request can be arranged at that time.

General Contestant Information
Arena will be open from 10:00AM to 11:30AM and 8:30PM to 9:30PM Tuesday through Friday. These are the only times the arena will be available.
All Contestants must be in line for grand entry at 6:15PM before each performance.
Go-Around Checks and Average Checks will be ready at the end of each round in the secretary’s office, after the awards on Saturday night.
Awards will be presented, and champion pictures will be taken immediately following the 6th performance, Saturday, October 22, 2022, on the arena floor.

*Rough Stock Contestants - be ready when your livestock
is loaded. Re-Rides will take place after the autograph
session except for the last performance
*Barrel Racing - Drag will be after 4 Contestants
*45 Second Rule will be in place - Contestant will have
45 seconds to call for your stock or come running, after
45 seconds you will receive $25 fine,2nd offense is $75
and 3rd offense is $150. Excessive offenses may also
result in disqualification
*If a contestant is unable to compete at the designated time
of competition, the contestant will be disqualified. There
will be no Re-Runs / Re-Rides
